Apple Crumble

(Makes around 4 helpings, oven at 180°C)

500g cooking apples
¼tsp. ground cinnamon
75ml water
100g flour
75g sugar
75g porridge oats, optional
50g margarine or butter

Peel and slice the apples finely and put in a baking-dish. Sprinkle with the cinnamon and add the water. Mix the flour and sugar and rub in the fat until the mixture looks like fine crumbs.

Sprinkle on top of the fruit and bake at 180°C until golden-brown, say 1-1½ hours. Do not have the oven too hot or the juice will bubble up and spoil the top.
